The Lack of Insight in U.S. Psychiatry

Postmodern Vanguard is the self-appointed, decentralized U.S. information military and advocates information war activities for acute social, economic, and environmental injustices that the U.S. legislative and judicial processes are too slow or rigid to address.

Postmodern Vanguard is already active. You simply have not yet heard from the mainstream news media what its members have done.

Postmodern Vanguard is libertarian socialist.

There is no membership approval process for Postmodern Vanguard and there is no headquarters. You may make yourself a member after reading these pages. However, the criteria for upholding Postmodern Vanguard values are fierce and require militant self-discipline to execute. The Postmodern Vanguard are elite and willing to outrage the willfully-ignorant elements of the U.S. public and U.S. government without apologies. To initiate your membership, write an essay, create art, or make a film with the same aim for communicative clarity and intensity as the essays on these pages. Then, forcefully and controversially insert what you have made into a social situation or public forum. Take precautions to protect yourself, however, and maintain anonymity when the situation requires it.

Should an opponent of Postmodern Vanguard attempt to smear the movement by anonymously committing immoral acts in its name, the U.S. public may refer back to this page to understand the core values of Postmodern Vanguard members.

The first priority of each Postmodern Vanguard member is to address self-confidence issues. Methods to do this have been included on these pages. Postmodern Vanguard encourages each member to develop his or her interests in the arts, humanities and sciences to ground oneself in an anti-intellectual culture contaminated with superficial criteria for human worth.

Each member of Postmodern Vanguard trains himself or herself in dialectic, rhetoric, and the nature of psychological lacunas. There are no figureheads of Postmodern Vanguard, only leaders. Any member may become a leader by courageously taking right action through producing high-quality Postmodern Vanguard content for the public, advocating for justice in the face of extreme social pressure or calculated personal risk, or organizing high-quality Postmodern Vanguard events to recruit new members. Postmodern Vanguard values thoughtful, breathtaking audacity, not recklessness. Postmodern Vanguard also encourages recognition of members' courageous acts taken through right action.

To further conversation among members, Postmodern Vanguard welcomes external dissent, with a willingness to filter disguised attacks from alternative points of view. The two can sometimes mix. The arguments and evidence of dissenters will be included in Postmodern Vanguard discussions, but personal attacks will not.

Postmodern Vanguard members may write as individuals or teams and publish their work in any medium without approval. In this way, the movement takes on the collective direction of its members, none of whom require approval from an authority to maintain the constitution of Postmodern Vanguard.

Since Postmodern Vanguard is not a formal organization, events requiring funding are organized through the web funding site, Kickstarter, by members. Any member may organize a Postmodern Vanguard event anywhere and protect oneself by calling it anything he or she wishes.

Psychology/Philosophy

Vital Lies, Simple Truths by Daniel Goleman "Vital Lies, Simple Truths is a penetrating analysis of the ways we deceive ourselves. Daniel Goleman draws on evidence of all kinds— from brain function to social dynamics—to reveal how we skew our most intimate relationships, our day-to-day lives, and our common reality by burying painful insights and memories. This self-deception is our means of psychic preservation."

Goleman introduces the concept of "lacunas," in which the mind edits experiences from awareness without informing the person.
The Republic by Plato "Plato's Republic is widely acknowledged as the cornerstone of Western philosophy. Presented in the form of a dialogue between Socrates and three different interlocutors, it is an enquiry into the notion of a perfect community and the ideal individual within it. During the conversation other questions are raised: what is goodness; what is reality; what is knowledge? The Republic also addresses the purpose of education and the role of both women and men as 'guardians' of the people. With remarkable lucidity and deft use of allegory."

Internet

Kickstarter has elegantly executed the concept of all-or-nothing group participation through funding over the web. A user of Kickstarter creates a project, provides a description, and sets a collection goal. Once the goal has been reached, Kickstarter allows the user to collect money. If the project expires without reaching its goal, Kickstarter deletes every person's pledges and no one is charged money.
